Health & Safety

Pre-schools are places where children spend most of their waking hours, so it's important that they're safe and well-equipped. This article will give you information on how to keep kids safe in the classroom.

Ensure children have access to fresh air and sunlight.

Children need plenty of fresh air and sunshine to stay healthy. If there isn't enough natural light, then artificial lighting should be used instead. It's also important to ensure that windows are kept clean and free of obstructions.

Provide adequate space for play.

Play areas should be large enough so children can move freely without bumping into things. They should also be well lit with sufficient natural light.

Have an emergency plan in place.

If there is a fire or other emergency, make sure everyone knows where to go and what to do. Make sure children understand how to use the fire alarm and escape routes.

Be aware of potential hazards.

Children should never be left alone at any time. They need constant supervision. Always keep an eye on them when they are playing outside. Never leave them unattended in a car or with a stranger.

Maintain a safe environment.

If you are looking after children, make sure you follow these rules. You must ensure that there are no hazards in the home or garden. Make sure that toys are kept away from small children. Keep windows closed and doors locked. Don't let anyone smoke inside the house.
